    Laws - View Law: TRUANCY

(not being in school when you are supposed to be)

It is against the law for anyone between the ages of six and sixteen to not attend school. However, there are some exceptions through excused absences, home school, etc. Even if you miss just one class period without an excuse, you are considered truant.

If you miss school a lot (5 days, unexcused) you are considered to be habitually truant (ARS 15-803).  An attendance officer can enforce this law. The officer can give you a ticket requiring you and a parent to appear before an official of the court. (ARS 15-805)  If you are habitually truant you could be put on probation, have your driver’s license taken away, or have to attend counseling or educational classes. (ARS 8-323)

I know battle creek deals with truncey by giving you a ticket, and take you back to school and you get ISS(In School Suspension) in Middle School/High School.

I got in trouble for truancy right before I turned 16. Then the judge orders that I have to get a "C" average. It isn't illegal to get bad grades. I told this guy twice that it was impossible to get my grades up and he still sends letters in the mail saying I have to come see him. Anyways, like someone before me said, the government gets money every day you come to school.

I like school but I was sentenced 3 days of in school detention. I think it wasn't fair because I was only late for one periode but I still showed up for gym. I had a good resone too. I had my locker changed so I had to go from the computer halway wich is all the way on one side of the campus, thenI had to go to the other side of the campus just for gym. There wasonly one other person on me hallway that had the same gym period as I.She was always excused and she was later then me. I think that is not fair. But it dosen't matter now it said and done with.
