Laws - View Law: Motorized scooters banned from Phoenix streets, sidewalks

    New regulation:

Applies to any "motorized vehicle that is self-propelled by a motor or engine," whether it be gas or electric, and can reach the speed of up to 50 mph, are banned on any kind of public land - that includes parks and alleys - and can only be used on private property with the written consent of the owner… according to the ordinance

Those who violate the rules will be subject to a traffic citation, just as drivers who speed or fail to yield at a stoplight are. And parents whose children are cited are just as liable - even if they didn't know their kids were using the skateboards in an inappropriate manner, or place.

See also: MOTORIZED SKATEBOARDS for more information about motorized skateboards.

This is a pretty "stupid" law. It's only in affect because someone's kid died on a scooter. But kids die everyday in car accidents, so should we ban cars too? Anyways, I can ride my longboard down hills going 35+ miles per hour which is more dangerous than scooters and it's not a big deal.

i think it is a stupid decision to amke then illegal for the streets, it is not fair that the police sit there and pull you over for riding a pcoket bike around, yesw u always get the stupid people that sit there and try and go as fast as they can but if some one is jus riding there not trying to raise hell then that person shouldnt be pulled over it should jus /only be the people trying to haul

Why can't you understand that laws regulating ALL motorized vehicles are for the protection of everyone (operators and the public). You don't have to agree with them - just obey them, PLEASE.
