Question:

what are the requirements to become a Supreme Court Justice

Answer:

Supreme Court of the United States: There are no specific requirements in order to be appointed a Justice. This however does not mean that you do not have to be qualified. All justices have been trained in the laws of the country. Many Justices served as members of Congress, governors, or members of the President's Cabinet. The process in becoming a justice starts with the President. The President nominates a person to become a Supreme Court Justice. However, the nominee has to be approved by the U.S. Senate. The President's nominee is sent to a special group in the Senate called the Senate Judiciary Committee. This committee then reviews the nominee to determine if he or she is the best possible nominee. The Senate then votes on the nominee and must receive a majority vote to become a justice. The justices serve a lifetime term. There are nine justices of the supreme court.

Supreme Court of Arizona: To become a justice of the Supreme Court of Arizona, the process is much the same. This time the Governor of Arizona appoints the justice. The only qualification listed in the Arizona Constitution to become a justice is that a justice of the supreme court shall be a person of good moral character and admitted to the practice of law in and a resident of the state of Arizona for ten years next preceding his taking office. There are 5 justices in the Arizona Supreme Court with one Chief Justice and one Vice Chief Justice. The term of an Arizona Justice is 6 years.
