Question: What types of lawyers are there and what is their average salary?

One of the best resources for finding out more about the legal profession and how much lawyers earn is from the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics. This department of the government tracks information about all professions.  The two links below will let you find out everything you ever wanted to know about becoming a lawyer and how much they earn.

Hi, im only a junior in high school and I want to study law. But I dont know a good college to involved with that can help prepare me to go into this field. I really dont know what type of lawyer to be. But im thinking of being a criminal lawyer.Is that good?

Being a lawyer requires you to be confident, have strong beliefs,study hard,work hard, communicate well in different languages, atleast English, type and take notes, have moderate sympathy, know what you are doing, be organized, communicate in a positive, righteous,way and a way everyone will be affected by,and have faith ind liking for what you are doing.Work for the people and for the rewards you are getting. Not the money! $$$$

I want to be a lawyer but im not sure what kind of lawyer i want to be any suggestions i know that i dont want to be a criminal lawyer i couldnt take the fact that if i knew my client did wrong and had a plea agreement where they were be able to get out of jail and commited a crime like killing someone i wouldnt agree with it so any suggestions? i have thought about a family law or corporate law??

Britt, After reading your comment, I would suggest Criminal Defense. Many times, you are the last hope for the person you are defending. It is up to you to see that they receive a fair trial and successfully defending them requires a lot of preparation. Hope this helps. :-) Also, if you are that interested in pursuing a career in law, I would look into the possibility of joining moot court if your college has it. It's a great way to learn more about the legal field and it's a lot of fun!!

I'm still really young. I'm only a freshman in college, but I have decided to practice law. I love the thought of helping people and standing for what I believe in. I think one should have the passion and ambition to carry out law and fully understand all of its aspects before jumping into this field. However, I just need guidance in choosing what type of lawyer to become and/or wo to represent. I know I want to help those in need and I'm not interested in representing corporations that rip people off just to make a profit. What would anyone recommend for someone like me?
