Question: Somebody told me that they get disability for being a drug addict. Is there such a disabilty act for addicts, and if so how do I attain that?

Answer: No, you are not permitted to receive Social Security Disability Benefits from being a drug addict or alcoholic.

Actually, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title V, Section 510, reads: "For purposes of this Act, the term 'individual with a disability' does not include an individual who is currently engaging in the illegal use of drugs, when the covered entity acts on the basis of such use." This means that you cannot claim drug use as a disability. (Good thing, too. If you take drugs it's your own fault.)
