Question: What is the law on overtime here in Arizona. If I am on hourly wage and I work over time, is my employer entitled to pay?

Answer:

The law on overtime is regulated by the Federal government under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).  This law states that no employer may require their employees to work more than 40 hours unless the employee is paid at least 1 1/2 times their normal hourly rate (usually referred to as time-and-a-half).

Whether your are entitled to overtime pay will depend on several factors, including how your job classifies your position and how many hours you work each week.

For more information or to report a violation on the Fair Labor Standards Act, visit the United States Department of Justice.
