Question: if i have 8 hours of sick leave during a 40 hour a week pay period and worked 3 hours of overtime in the same week.am i intitled to the 3 hours of overtime or can my employer take the 3 overtime hours from my 8 hours of sick leave and put down 5 hours of sick leave and not pay the overtime.this is a 8 hour a day 5 day a week pay period.
Answer: Overtime can be figured based on a forty hour week in Arizona, not based on how many hours you put in that day. They can and will use five hours of sick time instead of eight and they are allowed to do that unless company policy states differently. You still have three hours of sick time to use, if you want your overtime you have to work the whole week.
