Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

C'mon i mean whats the worst we can do? where thirteen and I need money for stuff a teenage girl needs. I cant depend on my dad for everything! i get sick of it I wanna make my own money! And exspecialy when I dont live with my mom I'd like to keep my stuff that im buying without my dad knowing sometimes. It's very weird with your dad knowing everything in your life....So i need money i mean babysitting doesnt even pay for my cell phone min. and im sick of doing chores for my dad cause i get little for doing alot! It's no fare...
