Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

I am really spoiled, but I now I can't alwasy depend on my parents forever. I need to train myslef, and I don't want to always ask my parents for money. They have to pay for school, my cell phone, food, electricity, and some other stuff. I can't always tell them waht I want. I am sick of the law underestimating us and not caring. 13 year olds are 1 year away from being 14, so why can't we just get a job and earn some money?

I'm 13 and I love politics, and everything having to do with the law.I think that starting at 11 kids should have a job. Because it's when they start being more independent. And want to make their own money without beign turned down by parents. They might think a car wash, babysitting, or selling cookies and lemonade is to hard I think te law should reconsider the idea of jobs and give kids a shot.  give me your comment or advice about what kind of jobs kids should have
