Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

for the time it takes to change a law u will already be 14 and like just becuz u get good grades and ur smart dont mean n e thing. U have to be able to work hard and if ur working u wont have time to chat on ur cell fones and spend time with ur familied (divorcied or not) Enjoy ur childhood, it wont last. I mean im 13 too and i need some money and my parents arent rich but money cant buy every thing. And i am not a hippie and i dont belive in "eternal peace" i am just rational and well just a kid.
