Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

im now 13 so you know i thought that now that i just turned thirteen i would have more options to do something with my life other than ask my parents for money. Because how i like going to the mall and all other things. 13year olds should be able to get a job senice were teenagers.Usally if 13 yearolds don't have jobs alwas are in the streets and bad things endup happening. SO WHY CAN'T 13 YEAR OLDS CAN'T GET JOBS!!!

I think 13 year old kids can work because everyone wants to buy stuff we want and sometimes our arents dont wanna buy it because it cost alot we dont have to be asking our parents for money its not like we are going to buy bad stuff with the money we buy what we need for school and other stuff we like.
