Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

This law makes no sense. It's not like a fourteen year old has some special characteristic to be more worthy of a job than a thirteen year old. it takes me two months to get something 'I' want by using my allowance. take my allowance and give me a job.A real job, not mowing a lawn or babysitting, I mean at publix or BJ'S.

I live in the uk, and the laws r a little different. We can work when we're 13, but barely any jobs go for people under 14. All kids are asking for is a few quid to spend out with their mates, why can't we get that much? There are people all over britain on benefits because they simply don't want to work, at least we're showing willing.
