Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

I think u are RIGHT!!! I mean come on I want to have a job so i can learn the responsibilities of working. I believe that a 13 year old is much of a worker as a 14 year old. Sometimes we are even better. If we are willing to work hard and stay connected we should be able to domore than babysit or bag groceries.

I live in a small town in arkansas. and here we cant evenfind babysiting jobs, walking dogs or washing cars. there nothing. all thye jobs are about 5 miles away in batseville. big city, but altough there is a large varielty of buisness oppertunities, you have to be over the age of 16. and i belive that most 13 year olds would work better and be more devoted to even a summer job then most 16 year olds.
