Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

hey i dont think its fare that adults get a job and teens dont oh if you think 13 aint a teen well your thinking wrong no affence but adults cant me as fast and think as quick as many 13 year olds that i know like me i could work a cash register pretty good just like many other adults they cant do as much as the younger ones lik 13 years old and there probably good at what ever thay want to do so at least give them some credit and give them an interview and if it dont work out then dont hire the person at least they will feel like they tride to get a job and then they will will like it to much
