Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

I am 13 an i know that i need money for important things an sometimes my parents just cant give me the money, but if i had a job then everything would be diffrent because i wouldnt be asking for money all the time when i need it.An I'm willing to work and earn my money,so if your willing then why not let year olds work if they're willing.

yes we should be able to get jobs too we cant always ask our parents for money. Not all of us can get an allowece. we need jobs so we can get what we need with out asking for the money but by earning we could lean more from the citiuation.
