Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

Ok how are 13 year-olds supposed to get to their job??? If they live in the country?? You would have to get your parents to take you....and that is just like asking for money. (Because they have got to take you and go get you!!!) Therefore, I only think 16 year-olds and up should get to have jobs. Plus, parents should still give their children money when they NEED it. Because they have no source of income.

I think 13 year olds should be able to get jobs because if we get in the habbit of asking for money and not working for it we will never get a job. we won't ever learn to be self suffenciant.
