Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

I want to be able to make some money, but I know that as soon as a law permitting 13-year-olds to work is passed, my mom will be telling me to get a job when I ask for money. I just want to know whether or not I can legally make money making webpages.

i AM 15 YEARS OLD AND i AM NOW ABLE TO FIND A JOB. wHEN i WAS 14 THOUGH, IT WAS VERY COMPLICATED. A LOT OF PEOPLE IN THE WORLD TODAY AREN'T VERY RICH. SO WHY CAN'T A CHILD OF 14 BE ABLE TO RESTOCK, BAG GROCERIES OR MOP A FLOOR FOR MONEY. THERE ARE KIDS HAVING SEX TO GET MONEY, BUT WHEN A KID WANTS TO DO SOMETHING REASONABLE TO GET MONEY , THEY CAN'T!!!!1

I think that some 13 year olds can work. Some are responsible, of course some aren't. We can do mostly anything adults can!
