Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

us 13 year olds need a job. not just for our own wants and needs. But for savings so at age 18 we can get away from this miserable house and get a real life. And if your parents have a bad income then you can actualy buy your food instead of begging for food from your parents. i hate my mom's house!!!!

I think that kids should get jobs early so they know life is not easy and especially it is not handed to them. I think 13 year olds should start working.

I am a 13 year old boy that needs a job but I am very shy to ask any one for a job.I think the law should be changed so that kids of the same age could have a good job.I don't want to moe someone's lawn all day just to make enough money to buy me a few things. With every child doing the same job it's hard to find one.law needs to be change so there will be more jobs to access.I mean it's only fair right who's with me.
