Question: What are the laws concerning jobs for 13-year olds?

Answer: The Fair Labor Standards Act states that the minimum age for employment is 14 years old. A 14-year old that is a full-time student would be allowed to work in a retail establishment as long as the employer has obtained certifications from the Department of Labor. A business could be fined $10,000 for hiring someone under the age of 14. The age requirements for agricultural employment are slightly different.

whats the difference between working when your 13 and working when you 14? its basiclly the same. i mean im tired of my parents saying no if i want to buy something so i want to be able to buy it myself i know theres alot of people who feel this way.LETS US WORK!part-time

living down here there not many jobs i just want to make some money. Not all kids can get job and that makes me very mad. the law should change. when need to make money or we would just ask mom and dad. dumd law!!!!!!!!!!!!!! studip law!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think it dumb why can't we work. we have to wait tell we 14 just to get a job.i feel that we should we as 13 teen year old should be able to get a job. if we can do somthing as speak are mind we should be able to get a job so that feel we have just as much chance of geting a job just a 14 year old.
