Question: I am 18 I moved to AZ from Iowa I served drinks at my job for 2 years there. I'm told I must be 19 to carry drinks in a restaurant in AZ? Why is this?

Answer: Every state has the right to make its own laws regarding who can sell alcohol. Some states require you to be 18 and others even require you to be 21. Arizona Law (ARS 4-244(11)) makes it unlawful for a restaurant to 'to employ a person under the age of nineteen years in any capacity connected with the handling of spirituous liquors'. They can hire you to do other jobs in the restaurant, but you can't do anything involving selling, making or serving drinks. Good luck in your job search.
