Question: If I break a lease, what amount can I be sued for?
Answer: You can probably be sued for:
• All unpaid rent. • Any physical damage, including unusual cleaning expenses. • Advertising expenses and other costs of re-renting the apartment. • The landlord’s attorney fees, but only if you have a written lease and the lease provides for this (ARS §33-1315). • A forcible entry and detainer action may also be filed resulting in a court order for you to vacate the property (A.R.S. § 33-1377).
