Question: I have gotton in trouble at work. I am suspended for theft of merchantdise and free timing. My question is does my employer have a right to tell my parnets about this event? i know if they contact the authorities my parnets have to know but what about the investigation threw the workforce only?

Answer:

In Arizona, employers have the right to investigate a theft, and parents have the right and responsibility to control their minor children. Parents also have the right to information about the minor child's actions including work history. While employers might not have time to go out of their way to inform a minor's parents, it might be necessary if an employer is seeking reimbursement from a loss incurred because of the minor's actions. An employer may want the parents to pay for the loss, or would want some assurance that the minor would pay out of any earnings from a subsequent job. If an employer seeks to have charges filed against a minor the minor's parents would be notified.
