Question: On job applications, are juveniles required to say to shoplifting if they shoplifted but already paid a fine?
Answer: Generally, there is no criminal law regarding employment applications. However, employers do have a right to ask about criminal convictions. Lying on a job application could be grounds for being fired. In other words, it is not a crime; but like lying, it can catch up with you.

The juvenile court tells kids on probation that they do not have to put "yes" on a job application when it asks if they have been "convicted" of a crime. Juveniles are ajudicated, not convicted, and I think this is a good protection because it allows kids a second chance to be successful without carrying around that stigma for the rest of their lives.
