Question: What kind of jobs can you have at age 14?

Answer:

At the age of 14 job opportunities are still limited, but you are allowed to work.  Federal age requirements for jobs can be found at the  U.S. Department of Labor web site .

Arizona also has statutes regulating work for those under 16 - (for example you have restrictions with working in manufacturing and in a pit with a bull)

23-232. Prohibited employments of persons under the age of sixteen

Arizona also has statutes regulating work for those under 18 (for example, you don't get to work with explosives)

23-231. Prohibited employments of persons under the age of eighteen

I own my own company in AZ, I run it out of my home, I have had neighbor kids come over and do light office work, phones typing ect. One of the things that I have noticed (since I now need to get someone new, due to they have gotten other jobs) is the verbage you are all using, the spelling and grammar are outrageous if I am going to pay someone to help me answer my company phone, I need them to be able to speak properly and not use slang, they need to be able write and spell correctly for messages. Most of you here I would not hire due to this. Sorry but its true, think about it.

My oldest daughter is 15 and has some good ideas for this, she plays sports so she does ref at some of the games, since they pay a set amount for each game she makes pretty good money for a few hours of her time. Also she is an Honor student at school and earns money for tutoring other kids. Check out your neighborhood, maybe there are younger kids that need to be babysat, at least until you find something else.

I am Jake and i live in Kentucky and, even though the Child Labor laws are meant to protect kids from almost slave conditions and barely any money at all, I still think our Government should be smart enough to find away around that so that, we the people, whether they like it or not we ARE people, should not suffer because of this. I need to save up for a good college and i cant do that with a paper route that gets you basically five bucks every two months! If anything i am very much equally qualified, if not more, than that some of the younger working class. It just doesn't make sense
