Question: What if you were watching a fight and then the cops came and everyone ran and you got caught even though you werent fighting and you didnt tell them anything...can you get arrested?
Answer: If the police have probable cause to believe that you were involved in the fight (disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, or assault are a few possible charges that come to mind), they can arrest you. Probable cause means that it is more likely than not that you committed the acts with which they charged you. You will then have a right to a hearing on the charges. In Arizona's juvenile courts, these are called adjudication hearings and are very much like trials in the adult court. The police and other witnesses would have to come and testify to what they saw and heard and your attorney could cross examine them. It would then be up to the Judge to weigh the evidence and determine if you were guilty.
