Question: I currently own a butterfly knife with a 4 inch blade. I know buttefly knives aren't illegal, but is it illegal for me to carry it at the age of 16?

Answer: Yes. A butterfly knife would be considered a deadly weapon, since it is designed for lethal use (under A.R.S. § 13-3101(A)(1)). You are not permitted to carry a deadly weapon without a permit (under A.R.S. § 13-3102(A)(1)). You must be 21 to obtain such a permit. (under A.R.S. § 13-3112E2). Exempt from this prohibition is carrying a pocket knife, which is different than a butterfly knife.  (again, A.R.S. § 13-3102(A)(1)).

did you give the officer consent to search your car? i know in st louis minors cannot legally give consent to search a car. since the car is most likely in your parents name they would have to give consent. therefore, anything he/she found in an unlawful search will not hold up in court. good luck.

Why would you want a butterfly knife? half the people that have them can't even use them properly anyways.... But, if you do have one and want to carry it, it has to have a clip on it. (cheap ones are like $19-28/good ones are $150-300 with a clip) Otherwise it is considered concealed and illegal without a permit. But they are still dumb and pointless.... Just carry a regular knife and quit complaining.

I'm confused by ARSĀ§13-3102.F dose it mean so long as the weapon is not concaled and is in a case it is perfectly legal? For instance carrying a sheathed sword on your belt?
