Question: Whats the intoxication level for AZ.

Answer:

The legal intoxication level is .08 or more within 2 hours of driving, and .04 if the person has a commercial driver’s license and is driving a commercial motor vehicle. (A.R.S. § 28-1381(A)(2)).

The intoxication level is referred to as the “BAC”, which means either the “Blood Alcohol Content” or the “Blood Alcohol Concentration”.  It takes females less alcohol to increase their BAC.  For example, a female that weighs 120 pounds and drinks 2 drinks will have a BAC of .08, while a male will have a BAC of .06.  (One drink is 1.25 oz. of 80 proof liquor, 12 oz. of beer or 5 oz. of table wine). Your body will process alcohol and reduce your BAC by approximately .01% for every 40 minutes after drinking.

REMEMBER:  The legal drinking age in Arizona is 21 (A.R.S. § 4-101(18)).  There are penalties for possessing, consuming or having consumed under A.R.S. § 4-244 and penalties for adults providing alcohol to minors.  See Also – Laws: Driving and Alcohol.

DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE.

Be responsible and save lives – if you think you may be intoxicated, stay where you are (if it’s a safe environment), leave with a non-intoxicated friend, call a non-intoxicated friend or parent, or call a cab.
