Question: What is the sentence for computer hacking?

Answer: A federal law, the Computer Abuse and Fraud Act (47 USC 1030), provides that the maximum penalty for one instance of hacking is five-years and a fine.

For the first time offender, a minimum of six-months in prison; for repeat offenders it's 10-years and a fine. Fines can range from up to $250,000.

this girl has created many dirty profiles of me she has even copy & pasted my photo to it,created a nasty web-page she even posted my home address & phone # sent men to my house while my children were their,these men were thinking they were going to get sex. About 10-12 mon.later i run across this 23 yr. old on the net he proceeds to tell me that he hacked into my computer for her yes i have everything he said to me saved. the police in my town will not do anything. i dont know what or where else go whith this...this kid dammaged the computer to the point i have to just get a new one.
