Question: My father died when I was 9 my mom remarried and My sisters and I still get social security. If I become emancipated would I still receive social security and could I use it to argue my financial independence?

Answer: The conditions in which a surviving child may receive social security differ from case to case. You can ask the Social Security Administration questions through their website, also is a case-by-case inquiry. You can view Arizona's requirements for filing emancipation.

But to determine the best way to argue your financial independence or emancipation claim in general, you should consult an attorney.
