Question:

I was sent to juvy bcuz my girlfriend's mother talked to my probation officer and lied about me to keep me away from her daughter. Is it legal for my probabation officer to talk to her about me?

Answer:
I am presuming that you are on juvenile probation in the state of Arizona when answering this question.  Different states may have different rules regarding how probation officers can gather information about those they are supervising.  In Arizona, your probation officer may speak to whomever may have relevant information about you and your activities.  Based on this information your probation officer gathers, he or she may then file a violation of probation (VOP) with the juvenile judge and request a hearing to determine if you have, in fact, violated your probation.  At a VOP hearing, you would have a right to be represented by an attorney and question the evidence against you.

In another scenario, sometimes a term of probation, a judge can impose deferred detention on you.  If your probation officer believes that you are not truly complying with your terms of probation, he or she may ask the judge to make you serve that detention time.

Bottom line, when on probation you must absolutely obey all of your terms of probation or you risk your probation terms becoming more intense or being sent to the Department of Juvenile Corrections.
