Question: What is the curfew and what happens if I'm out past that time?

Answer: Curfew times are different in every city. You need to check with your city offices to find out what curfew times and dates are.

In Phoenix, the curfew is

10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for kids 15 years old and under, 7 days a week

12 a.m. Midnight to 5 a.m. for 16 and 17 year olds every night

If you are out after curfew, this is an incorrigible act and you could be arrested and prosecuted. Sometimes the police call the parents to pick up the kids.

To find out more about curfews, you can check the curfew topic in the laws section.

What some of you teens don't understand about curfew laws is...Law enforcement knows it's mostly the college kids doing the destruction.1 am is when the drinkers start to get on the roads and basicly the 12:00am curfew is to get you inside before they hit the roads to PROTECT YOU! Not to spoil your late night fun. Just keep that in mind next time your parents want you in by 12:00am

Unfortunately, most of you kids don't know the half of it. For one thing, here in Scottsdale, nobody even enforces the curfew unless you are loitering around. If you're stupid enough to be caught loitering after curfew, then you deserve what's coming to you. There are ways around the curfew. If you get a note from your parents or are doing something constructive, (like going to the movies), then you are fine. Parents try to make it sound like you will get sent to jail if you are caught after curfew. For one thing you will only get a ticket. The only way is if you put up a fight, which i

Thank you! U have to be the most intelligent person i have met! FInally someone who isnt afraid to stick up to these stupid laws. The government shouldnt have a say in how late kids stay out. Its usually older kids in college that cause most problems ne ways. It should be up to the parents to control their children. Now if the children are caught doin something illegal while out...then they should be prosecuted. But curfew is a bunch of BS...my opinion.

You know, curfew is a lame attempt to make kids a scapegoat for problems that happen after dark. Most of the trouble, especially around here (Tucson), is caused by college kids. Not to stereotype too much, but it's true. If the parents don't want their kids out after a certain time, then it's their responsibility, not the state's.
