Question: I was falsely accused of bringing a gun to school and embarrassed in the process. Is there any punishment for the person who accused me?

Answer: If the investigation involved only school officials, there probably is nothing that can be done legally. The school principal could have the person write you an apology letter.

However, if law enforcement (the police) was involved and took a report, there may be some consequences for the individual who falsely accused you of taking a gun to school.

Arizona law states that it is 'unlawful for a person to knowingly make to a law enforcement agency, a false, fraudulent or unfounded report or statement.' (ARS 13-2907.01) The offense is a class 1 misdemeanor, carries as possible punishment up to 6 months in jail, and up to $2,500 in fines.

They should get a penalty of saying things that are not really true, if you analyze this false alarm the person accused can later deal with problems with other students or even teachers. So if somebody is going to
