Question: Do you know what states have a drinking age that is under 21? I'm doing a research paper on alcohol and youths.

Answer: There are no states that allow drinking under the age of 21. This is a federal law and not an individual state law.

By law in SOuth Carolina, people under the age of 21 are permitted to consume alcohol if they are with a parent, guardian, or spouse 21 years of age or older. So this answer is wrong. there are other states that allow this too.

21 is not the minimum age required by the state. It is not wriiten in the constitution therefore it is not a federal requirement. There is however a federal grant to any state who sets their drinkin age to 21. New York is currently looking to change the drinking age to 19. For several reasons they lose money when 19 yr olds go to Canada and drink there. Secondly by lowering the drinking age revenue will come in, almost enought to cover the grant money from the fedeal government. So it is not 21 everywhere because of a federal "law", just money prevents the age from changing.

I think that it is insane that you can't drink untill your 21. The age limit tempts people to want to drink.

I think it is a very bad idea for people to be drinking under 18 years of age because of what can happen to you. Some people drink because they don't know what can happen to them. I think that all the states should have the same age to drink. I have been raised up with alcoholics. It is really hard because I don't want to see those things happen to them. I can tell them how I feel but I can't tell them how I feel.I just hope that other people in our state make more better choices.

The Drinking age was made from an act in 1984. This age was set by the federal government and at the same time does not have to be enforced by the states. If not enforced by the states the government will cut highway funding in that state.
