A person who is serving the death penalty can be let out early because, every 2 years the prisoner has to go to a judge. If the judge thinks the prisoner should get out, then he let's him go. If the judge believes the prisoner should do his time he sntences him fo another 2 years.

Has anyone considered what it is like for those who are wrongly accused? Surely then, parole hearings should be taken more seriously in any case to allow for new testimony on the case. The case of Dominique Keys comes to mind. She is serving life in prison in Arizona for protecting herself from an insane murderer. Is it a crime to save your life? We shouldn't jump to thinking that anyone has the authority to take anyone elses life, whether with a gun or with the power of the US legal system. Free Dominique Keys!

I believe that the standards when it comes to sentencing should be thought out a lot more. We should ALWAYS make the punishment fit the crime no matter who the person is or how much money they have.....if they're guilty they're guilty. That is what we've been taught since we were born.

I believe that the system needs to re-vamp thier current guidelines to meet the specific crime. A murderer shouldn't be given a lesser time. A life for a life. However, a robber, a drug addict, ect. may deserve the chance to use the years of rehibilitation to return to society. My mother was sentenced to 17 years for armed robbery with an unloaded gun. 17 years? what about the drunk driver who hit a 5 year old boy and severed his legs...he was sentenced to 7 years...Justice? I don't think our current system really values that any longer! Ask that mother is justice is found in Arizona!!
