Question: If the President and the Vice President die, then who becomes the President?
Answer: If both the President and the Vice President die, the Speaker of the House of Representatives assumes the position. After the Speaker, the Presidency goes to the Speaker Pro Tempore of the Senate, the Secretary of State and then down the line to various officials in the President’s cabinet. This was established in the Presidential Succession Act of 1947 and the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution.
