Question: What is the curfew in the city of Mesa for teens ages 16 and up?

    Answer:

Mesa city ordinance #2825 says that anyone under 16 must be home from 10 pm to 5 am.  The rule allows persons 16 to 18 to be out until midnight.

    There are some exceptions.

    • legally emancipated minors
    • minors accompanied by a parent or guardian
    • minors who are working with the permission of a parent or guardian
    • medical and other emergencies
    • minors with parent's permission who are attending or returning home from functions sponsored by or related to religious, school, civic, or nonprofit organization like: services, classes, meetings, dances, social events, dramatic or musical performances, and sporting events.

Violating this law is a misdemeanor, and the penalties include a fine up tp two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500.00) or imprisonment for up to six (6) months, or both fine and imprisonment. (passed 10/93)

I think that curfews are pointless I am 17 years old, soon to be 18 and to be told I have to be in at 12 it is not going to happen, may be they are good to stop crime from the bad people, but for the people like me who are out and not doing anything bad why should we be punished?

Christy(The person below me) You are being prejudice. Maybe there's a movie the kid wants to see. Maybe they just want to go for a walk. Maybe they just want to hangout with their friends outside. There's a million reason someone could be outside past 10:30 and be doing something perfectly innocent. The state doesn't need to set a curfew for minors because their parents might not have a curfew for them. Maybe that's the way the parent wants their child to be raised. People can get raped, etc., at all times of day and night. Not just after 10:30. They can get raped during the day at school even

yeh i agree with the curfew.. cuz y would kids under 16 be out after 10:30 if they're not up 2 no good? and sometimes kids dont have a choice and dont have parents 2 giv rules 2 dem so i think if this curfew is followed through more kids would be at home and safe. this curfew preventz kids from gettin raped, kidnapped, molested, hazed, drug dealing and invoved in gang fightz. Please... we got lotz of time after 16 2 do all dat so y not wait?
