Question: Do you think it is dangerous for kids to drive at 15,16,and 17 years old?
Answer: Statistically, teenagers, in fact persons up to the age of 25, are far more likely to be involved in fatal collisions than older people. That is why rates for insurance are so high for young persons. One reason for this appears to be differences in brain biology between kids and older folks. Recent research says kids are wired to take more risks than older people, especially when they are in groups. So kids driving in cars with other kids tend to do unsafe things, resulting in more crashes and more serious crashes. A responsible young person who has had proper training, and who understands the risks, can be a safe driver with experience.
