Speak Up! - View Question #17566

    printer friendly version

Question: Living at home causes stress, depression, and anger would that reason alone be enough for me to get emancipated, go to foster home or anywhere other than home!?

Answer: The state requires more than stress, depression and anger before they will take you out of your home. If it helps, most kids your age feel the same way at times. You should try talking to a school counselor, or ask your parents if family counseling is a possibility. The state is not in the business of removing children from their homes, they do everything they can to make the situation work and only remove children who are abused.

Teen suicide is one of the highest death rates now and most of which are because parents get away with everything they do no a days.its ridiculous.i am 17 and still living at home and i hate it.i ran away to prove a point to my parents but they still didn't get it. my parents try to force me to do everything.i was adopted and i don't see why i was taken from the house i was in because this isn't any better.they need to check their laws again and maybe make some other restrictions.

I think that is absolutely ridiculous. If your parents make it clear they don't love you, that you are not wanted, shouldn't you be able to get out of that house? But I guess emotional abuse just doesn't count anymore does it? It doesn't matter if they are scarred for life because they feel like no one cares for them and not everyone hates them, as long as they have a mother (even one that hates them) I guess it's good enough for the state. Completely absurd, and quite evil if you ask me. You don't have to beat a child to hurt it.

I agree with you. Many parents themselves are self-righteous and need to be spanked! They need to realize that children need comfort and be listened to for emotional security. Most parents are too old by age but mentally immature and do not want to sacrifice and pay attention to their kids. Love suffereth long and is kind, and let pure love be passed on from generation to generation.

I am 16. My parents have joint custody. My mother is abusive to me and my sister. We are only at my Moms 3 days a week, but still she is always yelling or hitting on us. CPS has been called out several times. Recently I went to my dads and told him I was not going back to my Mom's house ever. She choked me when I was trying to leave her house. I wanted to leave because she was screaming at me and she hit me severl times. Why cant I live with my dad only and not ever go back to my mom's house?
