Speak Up! - View Question #17566 |
printer friendly version
Question: Living at home causes stress, depression, and anger would that reason alone be enough for me to get emancipated, go to foster home or anywhere other than home!?
Answer: The state requires more than stress, depression and anger before they will take you out of your home. If it helps, most kids your age feel the same way at times. You should try talking to a school counselor, or ask your parents if family counseling is a possibility. The state is not in the business of removing children from their homes, they do everything they can to make the situation work and only remove children who are abused.

Parents actions have an adverse affect on thier children, which can be horrible at times. I know its a huge deal to take a kid out of his/her home, but something has to be done. Most of the answers on here talk of counseling, but that doesnt always solve the problem. I think for the most part people dont even listen to a kids crys for help, as misguided as they may be. Let the kids have a say in what they do and where they go, because stress and depression can lead to serious problems down the road.
