    printer friendly version

Question: I live in arziona i had a seziure this was the first time i had ever had one the docter in the emergency room said my licence was susspended for 3 months does the hospital alert the DMV or does the docter just trust the patient not to drive not that i plan on driving because it is extremely dangerous i was just curious as to how that works. Thanks

    Answer:

Arizona Law (ARS 28-3306(A)(5)) gives MVD the ability to suspend the license of anyone who appears medically unfit, or whose driving could pose a danger. If the doctor notifies MVD, MVD would suspend immediately, but would then allow the driver to request a hearing to determine if the suspension is necessary. The doctor may report the seizure to MVD, though there doesn't appear to be a requirement that he or she do so.

MVD notifies the licensed driver of a suspension at their last known address. Always be sure you keep MVD advised of your current address, as you will be held responsible for receipt of the notice even if you never get it.
