Question: What if my parents don't want me to be emancipated?
Answer: If your parents or guardian object the court may send all of you to mediation where you may work out a solution. If you don’t reach an agreement the judge will decide whether to emancipate you or not based on what is in your best interests.

i turn 18 in a few months but my problem is that im trying to go to school.its a private school and i took a lot to get into, i start in two weeks and i have no kind financial status to support myself.....sooooo i asked my parents if they would co-sign or me to get a student loan, but they said that they didnt have the credit to co-sign for me, that was yesterday, today i just found out that my dad had just bought a brand new motorcycle.....its funny how he has enough money to buy a bike but not enough for me too get an once in a lifetime opportunity

Well my boyfriends parents have moved him back to Florida and he never wanted to go. He has been beaten up down there . He almost commited suicide,but his mother stoped him.His family is up here in Ohio.His mother dosent understand that as she thinks its best for him to be with her its not! she is just hurting him.He wants to emancipate her because she isnt going to let him come back up here. Well my parents are recently divorced but my mom is a crazy control freak and my dad tries but im just not happy living with him, yea i've made some mistakes but i want to be emancipated for a lot of reasons like my boyfriend recently moved away to another state and instead of having to run away to go see him i'd like to be able to do it legally. I can take care of myself im a big girl, my parents need to quit trying to sheild me from the world, if they only knew half the stuff i've done, and the consequences i've suffered for their bad choices.I need to get away from these people!w/e it takes

I feel the same way as you. My parents make me feel like I have no reason for living. They yell at me all the time and they give me punishments for every little thing I do. They dont trust me now. In a few months I will go and live with mg grandmother and I am going to really like that!
