    printer friendly version

Question: Is sex with an emancipated minor illegal?

    Answer:

Under Arizona law (A.R.S. § 13-1405(A)), "A person commits sexual conduct with a minor by intentionally or knowingly engaging in sexual intercourse or oral sexual contact with any person who is under eighteen years of age." If you are an emancipated minor, you are either 16 or 17 years old, and thus under the age of 18.

For more information on the rights you DO get when you become emancipated, visit the emancipation section of LawForKids.org or read the Arizona law covering emancipation which went into effect August 2005 (ARS §12-2454).

SERIOUSLY! I agree, I know most of us "think" and believe that we can handle any situation, and maybe some of us can. But we are still young and we still don't yet have the maturity to handle those sexual encounters, espically with people who are 3-10 years older. Don't get me wrong most are sexually active by 15, but it messes with our maturity. Just be smart and watch for those who want to hurt you or take advantage of our age.

Grow up, people! This is something seriouse,Not just a spree for all-access stupidity. You're still a minor, people can still take advantage of you, especially if you're emancipated and don't depend on your parents.Pedaphiles and cruel people can't wait to get their hands on you, you have to be aware of that. They know we're young and naive and they'll take advantage of that. They will try to cheat you sexually but financially and any other way they can. Watch out and be careful!!!
