Question: Can you run for president if your parents are American citizens and you were born in another country while your parents were traveling?
Answer: According to Article II, section 1 of the Constitution, that person must be a natural-born citizen, at least 35 years old, and a resident of the United States for at least 14 years. Whether a child born abroad of an American parent is ``a natural-born citizen,' has been frequently debated. There is no final answer, even though several constitutional scholars have argued that such a person should qualify as a natural-born citizen.
