    Question: Doesn't someone have to harm or threaten you, in order to place a restraining order on them?

    Answer: There are many types of restraining orders or "injunctions," and generally yes, a person has to harm or threaten to harm, or harass you in order for you to place a restraining order against them.  The court needs to have in writing a valid reason to approve the restraining order.

    I got pregnant and lately ive been really moody, and ive mostly been going off on my boyfriend. hes been really stressed out, especially when we get in arguements. two of his friends threatened to hurt him cause of the way he is acting with me. my boyfriend got upset and told his parents about what happened and now his parents want to get a restraining order on me. they said because im 'always' stressing him out. i want to know if that is necessary of them to do? when i really didnt do anything.
