Speak Up! - View Question #217

    printer friendly version

Question: Can you get a curfew ticket if you are in a house and your going to stay there?

Answer: No. Although curfew laws vary according to which state and city you are in, most curfew laws only apply to kids under 18 years of age who are not in a specific location. For instance, walking down a street.

Also, most curfew laws make it legal for a kids to be out after curfew with written permission from their parents stating exactly where and for what the kids is heading. It's a good idea to have a note from your parents anytime you might be out after curfew.

I think that cerfew hours should not be a law because its to boring to be at home at a friday night. If you think that cerfew hours are ok maybe change it, they should put children ages from4-11.

I think the time a teenage comes home should be disputed between the teenager and the parent, not the teenager, parent, and law. I am 16 and my DRIVING curfew is 11, but my non-driving curfew is 12. I live in New Orleans, and the teenagers who are out kids who are out committing this "horrible crimes" could HONESTLY careless about a cerfew law... Think about it...murder...curfew...they really aren't caring!!! I also think my parents would like it more, I know they would allow me to stay out later with my friends and do normal things...but I can't!

Here in SD if you are 15 and have a restricted liscense you can not drive after eight but you can walk on the streets until 10. IN my mind the two times should be the same and they should be about 10 or 11. Most of my activities I am involved in do not get done until almost 9:30. My parents do not always have time to drive me. But now I am 16 so the law no longer affects me.

ok, I am a Mother. I just looked up Arizona Curfew Law to find it is 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. My son came home @ 1 a.m. today, I was waiting up, of course. This fourteen year old kid had not been doing anything wrong. The fact is there are adults out there with no curfew, they drink, they commit serious crimes. Parents, law officials don't want teenagers out there in the middle of it. How horrible to just be in the wrong place when the cops are after some adult creep, monster, whatever. A high speed chase, a gun battle, you name it. Would it surprise you to know I am willing to drive over and

I've been doing alot of research on this topic lately, and I can tell you for a fact it is ineffective and unconstitutional. A curfew law is just an excuse for a politician to say he is doing something about teen crime when this law has been proven counless times and in numerous cities to be ineffective and in some cases even increase the teenage crime rate by turning otherwise law abiding teens into criminals. Curfew laws violate more than five rights given to us by the constitution such as the right to assemble. And why is this law focused on teenagers when we have the same rights in the con
