Question: If I right a song, can I get it copyrighted, or do mom/dad have to do it for me? If they don't want me to have a copyrighted song, how can I copyright it? Also, does it matter if it's copyrighted or not?
Answer: You can copyright your song - copyrighting is like filing a notice that you own it. Copyrighting protects your work so others cannot use your idea. The person who owns the copyright has the right to prevent everyone else from reproducing, writing sequels, or otherwise using the work during the life of the copyright.
