    printer friendly version

    Question:

My son was arrested in Mesa AZ for smoking pot on a street corner at a bus stop. We have not gotten our court date yet. Can I recomend to the judge to send my son to juvenile detention?

    Answer:

Until you get a court date, you cannot request the judge to do anything relating to the potential marijuana charge. If your son is incorrigible, meaning he is not following your rules and you are unable to control him, you may file a request with the court to have him taken as a ward of the state. However, there must be significant factors for the court to take such drastic measures. With respect to the court date, you may want to follow up with the juvenile court to determine if charges have been filed.

sounds like he has never had a kid stretch the limits of his patience. The parent did not suggest making the kid the ward of the state. the parent wanted to know if the child could go to Juvenile Detention. why don't you suggest something helpful instead of passing judgement on someone you know nothing about.
