Question: im almost 15 and i don't like living at home. i know thats like every teens problem but i mean my mom has anger problems and she calls me the b word when shes mad at me and shes been drinking alot. i want to get emmancipated but i think im too young. what can i do?
Answer: If you are being physically abused, you should immediately call 911 at the time of the abuse. Also, tell an adult that you trust (like a teacher, doctor, police, relative, etc.). You can also call Child Protective Services at 1-888-767-2445 or Childhelp at 1-800-422-4453. See the links section of lawforkids.org for more hotlines that you can call for help.
A minor must be at least 16 years old in order to petition for emancipation.
