Speak Up! - View Question #26

    printer friendly version

Question: If driving with a permit alone and are pulled over what are the possible concerns?

Answer: A Learner's Permit is not a license to drive a car. It is a special permit that allows you to drive a car on the road only for the purpose of learning to drive, and you must have a licensed driver with you at all times.

The point of a Learner's Permit is to give you an opportunity to learn to drive, with supervision from someone with a license.

If you were to be caught driving without supervision, you will first be cited for driving without a license just as anyone else would that is driving without a license. In addition, it is likely that you will not be allowed to obtain a Driver's License at all for some period of time as punishment for breaking the law. The period of time until you could get a License would depend on the circumstances, but will probably be until you turn eighteen year's old.

dev you need to tell someone what happened to you cause if they dont even tell you what you've done wrong and search you, yes that is a big mistake on the police departments part.my brother is becoming a cop. you can tell the judge about it if you have court. I also got pulled over with only a permit i was 2 months away .i cut someone off, if only i put the police scanner in my car that night lol. the judge let my sister walk away with only a $300.$ fine for drug charges. yet we have to wait years for one mistake.

I do not understand these "mature adults" posting comments about how we need to stop whining. Transportation is a valuable asset and I don't understand how a license can be suspended until you are 18 for such a minor offense... what is a judge thinking letting a DUI offender off with one year suspension but someone who is 15 with knowlege of the roads have their license suspended til 18.
