Question: I know we have laws, but do they really help the government or people more?
Answer: The United States Declaration of Independence, the document that lead to the the establishment of the United States as an independent country, says that
'[A]ll Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness -- That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed.'
In other words, the government and its laws are created for the purpose of protecting the rights of the people.
Some laws, such as tax laws, may seem like they help the government more. But the purpose of collecting money from the people is to provide services for the people's benefit. Laws that restrict your behavior (such as the law against robbery) are intended to protect other people's right to keep their own property.
Your question raises a very interesting and important issue of political philosophy and if you want to consider it more, you should try to take a philosophy or political science class in high school or college.

Curfew laws should be there to help us...not to restrict us. Why do we even need the laws? we already have laws on what age we can work, now u want a law on what time we got to be home? when do i parents have the chance to be our parents. they have no say in what we listen, what we watch, when we can drink (not that we all want to but, we should have the freedom to say when) when we can drive, who can talk to walk with and be in the car with.
